  1. I’m pro-capitalism, but I’m wary of those that make a religion of it. Capitalism is a mechanism that powers society, like an engine powers a car. But it’s not the only social tool we have in the toolbox, and the free market is not a god. It seems to me that Prosperity Gospel does a neat trick of 1) combining Calvinist Predestination with Capitalism-as-Religion and 2) substitutes one signifier for another, i.e., wealth takes the place of God.
