@bcecala76 glaciers are fresh water. WIth regard to your original point, do you mean that the earliest arrivals practiced burial-at-sea? Or do you mean that the bodies were buried in coastal lands now underwater? I’m not convinced about burial at all—burial is not a universal funerary practice. AFAIK, there are no universal funerary practices.

What we are told lags behind discovery. And the alt history establishment (purveyors of fine woo like Ancient Aliens and Atlantis) don’t make it easier. We are actually quite lucky that channels like Ancient Americas are possible, both in informing us of developments in archaeological studies and in countering the batshit woowoo theories propounded by the pseudoscience industrial complex and sucked up by the mentally lazy, the mentally incapacitated, and the mentally ill.

I agree, although the genetics strongly point to a single or (at least) main ancestor group. I can imagine how population pressures might encourage some of the more adventurous to head off to find new lands—even if contact was later broken, there might have been an oral tradition of these sons and daughters who went east and south, and then others might follow when there was again population pressures.
