  1. Heaven forbid they get what they want through bipartisan compromise. Do you know the H.L. Mencken quote? Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

  2. He’s the Republican governor of a Blue State. The problem is that if he runs and wins, that’s one less senator in the Dem caucus. I guess the question is if he can win the primary.

  5. The Republican Senators did something brilliant. They insisted on tying a border plan to Ukraine aid and they stuck to their guns. Biden and the Democrat senators blinked. This gave the GOP the leverage to squeeze every demand they wanted out of the Dems. The Republican minority frikkin won a major victory, getting the deal they wanted. I don’t know how involved McConnel was with creating this strategy, but it’s certainly his cutthroat style. It was a brilliant strategy. And the GOP walked away because it would mean they’d lose a campaign issue. It defies logic.
