@AriaBellacini I’ve been repeating this in various comments. What else are you doing besides voting? Voting is barely the bare minimum we need to do to defeat Trump. Please, turn your enthusiasm into action, and preferably action offline. Volunteer for the Harris/Walz campaign. Register voters and help voters check that their registrations are up to date. The work we do now will have long term effects beyond the election, when the magas cry “stolen election” once again. Let’s turn our enthusiasm into motivation. That’s what wins elections. Fighting maga bots and trolls might be entertaining, but it’s not the real work a participatory democracy requires. Let’s be a real grassroots. Everything I am telling you applies to me as well.

I ❤ Bill Kristol. I used to like him. He was our leading light in the “Intellectual Right” (yes, children, it was a real thing back in the day). But the day I fell in love with him was when he went on John Stewart’s Daily Show. This happened after Stewart went on Tucker Carlson’s show and made a fool of Carlson. Stewart tore Tucker to shreds and left him sputtering like an idiot. Stewart didn’t just knock Carlson down a few pegs, he threw him off of whatever thing it is that has the pegs. Bill held his own on the Daily Show and he charmed the heck out of Stewart and Stewart’s audience. They had a genuinely honest exchange, and reminded us what mutual respect looked like. I still treasure that moment. I have to give props to Stewart, too. He didn’t go into comedy-attack-dog mode, and approached Bill with an open mind.

I cringed a bit during Harris’s economic speech. There’s a lot of things in it that I would pick apart. Other things demand clarification, and some parts of her program are sensible and needed. But I set all that aside. My policy differences pale in comparison to the monstrosity of a second Trump presidency and Project 2025. After we elect her, and defeat the maga Hannibal Lecter, we can debate the policy.

@mananimal3644 You wrote Jill Stein 2026. Is that the year when Hamas makes Stein the President of Gaza?
