Worse than an embarrassment. He’s evil. This crosses the line.

@TheDeadlyefx Maybe we have different notions of dystopia, but I think we are already in dystopian territory. That doesn’t mean it’s hopeless, though. If we have not descended too far into dystopia, there is a chance we can recover and return to normality. But if we are in it, that does not relieve us of our moral agency or the necessity that we fight for what is right. We are not excused from the challenges ahead because the world is going to hell.

They log every call from constituents. They log every piece of snail mail from constituents. That’s one of the duties of a senator’s staff. If the call wasn’t logged, it didn’t happen.

@Jeff-by9de Senate staffer: Did you call 911? Caller: I don’t mean they’re eating my cat right this second. But I’ve noticed how they eye my cat, with slavering jaws and their tongues hanging out. Staffer: Uh, can you describe these Haitians? Caller: They’re furry. They walk around on four legs and they have tails. Staffer: Those aren’t Haitians. Those are dogs. Haitians are humans, don’t have tails, and walk around on two legs. Caller: I think these were Haitian Shepards. They’ve also been chasing the geese and barking late at night.

The city and state government has a cause of action, but unless there is violence against members of the Haitian community based on the smears, there isn’t a cause of action nor is there a plaintiff. If there is violence, God forbid, the victims of that violence have a case. The problem here is that broadly smearing an ethnic group is protected speech. Inciting violence is not protected speech, but unless there is violence, you can’t call these smears inciting violence. There is a remedy available to the people of Ohio, though. It’s called the ballot box.

Those office staffers log all constituent calls and letters, so it’s a matter of someone making a FOIA request to see the call logs. There is no such thing as “senator-constituent privilege”.

It’s evil. JD Vance is evil. Just say it.

I’ll speak up for the unions and everyone thereafter. But let them have the socialists.

@NeilHoward-kp2gc Fred, that was a brave thing you did, breaking up with Daphne and coming out of the closet.

@robynnordstrom7799 Before and after he admitted he was “creating a story” to focus attention on Springfield, he said he received a call, not an email. If true, this means his office (or a district office) received a call or he did on his personal phone. If it was to his office, a senate staffer logged the call as they do for all calls from constituents. There will be name, number, and a note about the subject of the call. If it was to his cell phone, there will be service provider records of the call. It might be possible to gain access to these records through a FOIA request. Or if there is a civil case, it might be possible to subpoena the records. The City of Springfield might have a cause of action to initiate a civil case against Vance because of all the bomb threats.

My grandmother came to Los Angeles from Japan when she was a baby during the 1900s. When the pet eating racial slur surfaced in the 70s, she told us about it being directed at her and her family in the 1910s. A Chinese friend of the family confirmed that the slur had been around for a long time and applied to Chinese immigrants and Chinese Americans. I suspect the racist allegation goes back to the initial waves of Chinese immigration to the U.S. (during the California Gold Rush and the building of the railroad) and the “Yellow Peril” hysteria that followed. Trump, Vance, and maga are tapping into the same fears that spurred violence, discrimination, and racist laws against Chinese immigrants and Chinese Americans. Mobs burned down Chinese enclaves in West Coast cities, Chinese people were robbed, homes and businesses were looted, and hundreds of Chinese people were lynched or shot. “Haitian immigrants eating pets” is a play in the white supremacist play book. It’s an opening gambit and a call to arms. Trump and Vance might not know all the history, but people like Stephen Miller and Laura Loomer do.
