  1. They’re blithely driving around like this because they think this is territory that they control. This is not near a “hot zone”, unless you want to consider all of “Russian controlled” territory a hot zone. When the Russian forces advance, they leave behind an area that they cannot secure, so Ukrainian units can move in behind them and wait for a moment such as this. This is one reason the Russians have bogged down and their advance is crawling. They cannot secure their flanks. They cannot secure their rear areas. They don’t have enough soldiers in Ukraine and they can’t spare reserves needed in other parts of Russia.

  2.  @melinagoranson  You’re forgetting that, due to the logistics problems, there aren’t enough driver diapers to go around. When the next driver gets attacked and poops in his pants, they’ll have to pull over and clean up.

  3.  @ivanramos1809  There was also small arms fire coming from the side. I’m not saying it’s the same video, but it’s possible the driver was struck by rifle fire and that’s why he drove off the road.
