We just don’t know, unless you have other more detailed information. Normal procedure would be to just quietly relieve ineffective generals, and put other generals in their place whose abilities and stance are more in line with military objectives. Calling generals out as traitors is a pretty big deal and indicates there is more going on.

@freddyodonohoe2644 Pray to God, the Virgen, and your good ole St. Pat! 😄 I’m not a praying man myself, but I’ll join you! 🙏

@brutusjudas5842 Western armies are still governed by rules, as Sylvia says. These rules might be different from civilian laws, but they can’t be overruled by an arbitrary military or civilian power. Military rule based discipline is the backbone of a strong military in a democracy.

@brutusjudas5842 No, I didn’t make your point, I argued the opposite of your point. I take it that English isn’t your native language? Let me put my point forward once again: militaries in democracies are rule based and exercise of power is not arbitrary. A court martial might be different from civilian criminal courts, but they are bound by the same principles of justice as the civil society that they protect. If the Ukrainian government is democratic, there will be no show trials in a kangaroo court, nor will there be a secret trial with a predetermined result. There will be a court martial with evidence presented and questioned. There will be the opportunity for the defense to present counter-evidence. Wartime doesn’t change this, even if the government has emergency powers. I guess we will see how much of a democracy Ukraine really is, but rule of law is a foundation of military discipline. Without military discipline, you get a sh¡t-show like we see in Russia.

Except for the anomalous years of 2016-2020 and at some points during the 60s, non-violent protests and non-violent civil disobedience are part of our national fabric.

AA Kostic She didn’t say that. Stop being obtuse. She is saying that Ukraine’s military should be a rule based one that requires such evidence to be presented in a court martial, and that the defense be allowed to question that evidence and provide counter evidence. “During wartime” doesn’t change that. It is during wartime that it is most important.

That was confirmed by UKR defense forces? I’m concerned it might be a false flag to give Putin the excuse to declare war and escalate.

Bad news. 😟 Who are these generals? What have they done? Ukraine will win sooner or later, but having traitors might help delay Russia’s inevitable loss.

@carvealegoff *assassination Spelling counts! 😉 Ignore Spring Bloom. If he doesn’t post his trash comments, he’ll get sent to Ukraine to die face down in the mud with his fellow Russian stooges.

They were digging in, digging foxholes and trenches in radioactive soil, is what they were really doing. You realize that Russia discourages its people from learning about Chernobyl. It’s likely that the soldiers and their immediate leaders had no idea what happened at Chernobyl.

Preparations for a post-thaw counteroffensive. Watch for this to happen: Russian attacks, making slow progress until they are spent, then counterattacks from UKR that grow into a broad offensive campaign to Push Russia out. Watch and remember—there might be discouraging days ahead, but it’s part of the plan to draw out Russian attacks.

@julianpetkov8320 <— Russian troll I get it Julian. If you don’t post your trash comments and lies, they’ll send you to Ukraine, where you’ll die face down in the mud.

I haven’t confirmed this report, but I just heard that Irpin was attacked yesterday by Russian ground forces and it was shelled before and after. The Ukrainians blew up a major bridge to prevent Russian forces from re-entering the town center. All of which to say, Russia doesn’t seem to be moving forces away from Kiev if they’re still attacking. No ceasefire was declared. I wouldn’t trust Putin even if a ceasefire was agreed.

Arrest and court martial. I have no idea what sort of code of military justice they have in Ukraine, do you?

@sylviaelse5086 There are a lot of Russian trolls and anti-democracy nutcases in these comments. There might be quite a few ignorant people that never bothered to study democratic governance—a group that encompasses the Russian trolls, the anti-democracy nuts, and the just plain stupid people.

To avoid confusion, use UKR.

@russiansarefilthyapes1660 I understand that sentiment. But I pray that the Russian people wake the eff up, grow a spine, and throw out Putin and all his Putinistas. If they do not, they are just as responsible as Putin.

@forestreematters5406 We really have no idea. There are a number of possibilities, but it’s all speculation until we learn the generals’ identities and their responsibilities. Least likely, but worst case, is that they were spies. More likely, but unproven, is that they were engaged in some form of corruption. It’s also possible that there is a lot of circumstantial evidence, but the generals are innocent of treason, although I put small odds on that. But I’m just guessing.
