In fact, Moscow was a subsidiary of the Kingdom of Galicia. By Putin’s own logic, he should surrender to Zelensky and turn Russia over to Ukraine.

@massimopericolo9579 But Ukraine wasn’t currently seeking to be part of NATO. It had applied years before and had been rejected because it didn’t meet the requirements of membership. The question had been kicked down the road to be answered someday in the future. And it hadn’t come up at all until Putin invaded Crimea. It’s only now, after he has invaded Ukraine itself, that Putin has supplied NATO and Urkraine (and Finland and Sweden) with strong reasons.

@joek600 Seems to me that Putin kicked the door down. No one welcomed him in. Russian speakers, ethnic Russians in Ukraine are fighting against the Red Army and for Ukraine. If self defense is hyper-nationalism, so be it.

You must be thinking of the Kingdom of Galicia. Moscow was a tiny unimportant part of the Kingdom, as you suggest. If Putin wants to follow historical precedent, he should surrender his country unconditionally to Ukraine and let the Ukrainian people decide the fate of Russia.
