Maybe stop meeting up with other criminals and engaging in criminal conspiracies.

If you can’t afford the time, don’t do the crime. This is the result of choices that they made, such as choosing to participate in a coup. I know you MAGAs aren’t big on personal responsibility and accountable, but this is what it looks like when a criminal realizes that no amount of expensive lawyering is going to help them if they kept their mouths shut. They took it to the brink, but they finally accepted responsibility for their actions. It’s only Giuliani that’s facing bankruptcy, but that has more to do with 1) his own prolificacy, and 2) getting stiffed by Donald. I’m a conservative, and I’d like to have the GOP back if you’re done with it. We need more like Brad Raffensberg and fewer like the current craven crew of circus clowns.

I agree to a certain extent, but they really are getting more than a slap on the wrist. Both Chesebro and Powell are felons, guilty of crimes in Georgia. Felons cannot vote, cannot own firearms, and cannot practice law. They cannot profit from their crimes by writing books. No one on the right will hire them, so they’ve destroyed their careers. (Perhaps they can get work as paralegals, but who would hire them?) Have you ever heard the folksy advice about fleeing a bear? You don’t have to be able to run faster than the bear. You only have to run faster than your friends. It’s similar with a RICO investigation, except the safe strategy is to run TOWARDS the bear to save yourself.

@jasonwells8528 They don’t keep their law licenses. They are now convicted felons by their own admissions. Their legal costs would have been paid if they kept their mouths shut, but there was little chance that they would win their cases (Chesebro had a slightly better case, but still a long shot). The main thing is that each will avoid prison if they adhere to the conditions of their plea deals. They have lost the right to vote. They’ve lost their right to own firearms. I doubt that they will ever find work at the level of renumeration they had previously achieved. Frankly, considering all the wild MAGAs out there, I’m surprised they didn’t request the Witness Protection Program.

@TGoff-fz7yh Powell really had no case and zero chance of winning. Chesebro did have a legitimate defense to use but it was far from a slam dunk. He lost the last set of evidentiary motions that would have helped him. He didn’t have a good chance of prevailing, but he had a chance. Chesebro decided not to roll the dice and to finally accept responsibility like a mature adult. I think it’s the first wise decision he has made in a while.

@robertpendergrass7996 He didn’t lose the House. Look at what a good job theyre doing. 😂 One of these days, the Republican caucus will meet in private, the press will report they heard screaming, and only one very very fat congressman will leave, picking his teeth with a toothpick. No one will know how or why the rest of the GOP Congress disappeared of the face of the earth.

@gold_ram_5.780 Powell has no link to trump? Can I have some of whatever it is you’re smoking? 😂 Good lord, man.

If you want the honest truth, check Wikipedia for the link to their plea documents, which will be a matter of public record. That will show the crimes to which they pled guilty. You don’t have to believe Wikipedia if you check the source documentation from the court.

@ehoffman2260 They’re now officially convicted felons. They can’t practice law, they can’t vote, and they cannot own weapons. If they have other employable skills, who would hire them? Maybe they can get into a witness protection program. 😂

What do you mean? She was indicted.

They got more than a boop, although they did manage to avoid prison (assuming they adhere to the conditions of their pleas). They’re both convicted felons. They’ll be able to get on with their lives, but their lives will be circumscribed for a good long while.
