@gerardodwyer5908 The butthurt plaintiffs are the ones that are generating fees for the lawyers. And it’s quite possible that they’ll end up paying the defendant’s attorneys as well, because the suit is that frivolous. The defendant gets more fame and possibly damages as well. I have to wonder if it’s the police union paying for the plaintiff’s attorneys, because this sounds like the dumb sort of thing a police union would do out of blind zealotry. I’m not anti-police, I’m anti-stupidity.

@OptimiSkeptic You seem like an intelligent person, so I’m going to ask you to reconsider your use of “Third World/First World”. The terminology has nothing to do with whether a country is industrialized or not. The schema is from Cold War politics in which the First World was the Western Democracies, the Second World was the Communist bloc and countries aligned with the Soviets and/or Chinese communists. The Third World was those nations that did not wish to take sides in the Cold War, whether or not those countries were democratic. The First/Second/Third world descriptors are so obsolete that many people don’t even know that the Second World was part of it or what it was! The sentences in question are about the Rule of Law. Why not just lead with that? Some countries follow the rule of law, some do not. I think you’ll find that those that do not tend to be authoritarian countries. Economic development or geopolitical alignment aren’t germane. Anyway, thanks if you read this far. I hope you’ll consider my request in the future when you want to use “Third World” or “First World” as shorthand. Sometimes slang hits perfectly, other times it muddies our thinking. The misuse of First, Third World is one of the latter.

@khernandez7903 There will be a critical examination of how the law applies to the case, and as Steve outlined in the video, the case will fall apart on summary judgement.

Isn’t the lemon pound cake song about one of the cops conducting the raid encountering some lemon pound cake in the kitchen? It’s been a while since I saw the video, but if I recall the cop looks at the cake with the intense hunger one only sees in the eyes of a starving cop looking at a donut.
