  1. I wasn’t even aware of the AD 5th season or Community’s 6th season. (I might even have seen the sixth season, but the phrase “5 seasons and a movie” was burned too deeply into my brain for it to register.) I’d like to see a joke efficiency comparison chart. It might be that the determining factor for success is joke density. There’s thousands of videos analyzing the 8-step Campbellian circular writing structure, but I need to see some spreadsheets with hard numbers and then those numbers explained in an infographic slide deck. (Can we all just agree that combining the bottom line with new media corporate speak is a force-multiplier, or are you going to force me to create a spreadsheet and accompanying slide deck?) Another thing that occurs to me is that one of the hurdles of reviving a canceled show is actor scheduling. I think I have a solution: hire multiple actors (that bear some resemblance to each other) for each lead and start using these multiple portrayals within each episode. Hell, start doing this at the first table read. The benefits of this approach should be obvious, not just for scheduling, but for manipulating the actors and keeping them divided during contract negotiations. If/When an actor leaves the show for better opportunities, they’re easily replaced and incorporated. Hardcore fans will love it because it’s so meta.
