⁠⁠ @joelv4495 Heavy crew weapons, specifically M-2, could handle drones. They could certainly be crew operated, but one would hope you’d have some kind of radar to detect where to look. Misiles not so much. Hopefully you have a DD nearby to handle the misiles. .50 cals are the cost effective solution. They can be stowed and secured in port. They have plenty of mounting options that don’t need extensive retrofitting. Crew of 2 per weapon. Good enough against drones. Outside of the Bar el mendeb or the coast of Iran, where do you expect to encounter ballistic misiles?

⁠ @simonjusticier333 Did naval battleships fail? How about non-naval battleships? Did they fail as well? No battleships are in the area of operations, nor have any battleships been spotted around here for decades. The vessels we’ve seen include cruisers, destroyers, and an aircraft carrier. I think the French have been operating a frigate, but go ahead and count that as a cruiser. They haven’t failed. They’ve done their jobs brilliantly. However, Houthi weapons will occasionally get through. This bulk carrier was out there freelancing without protection (or insurance as far as anyone knows).
