@davidclaudy4822 Yes and no. Both Palestine and Israel have the right to exist, the right to self determination. Until both sides recognize the other’s basic rights, there is no basis for peace. And until the Israeli hostages are released, there is no basis for a ceasefire.

I wish Saudi Arabia and India could join force to deal with the Iranian threat. I do not agree that Iranian belligerence is based on their conflict with Israel. I think Israel is their pretext. An Indo-Saudi led coalition could accomplish things that a U.S coalition could not. It could keep Iranian warships in port.

@andyjackson3414 Iran is controlled by a coalition of faction. The treatment of hostages will be determined by who has them.

What is the state of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and India? Is there any cooperation between their militaries? I think that India and Saudi Arabia have the greatest common interest in the security of shipping in the region. Together they could deter Iranian aggression.

@death_parade Diplomacy is always preferable. But what does India do when diplomacy fails and another Indian crew is held hostage or worse? Wrt to a coalition, I think it would be a bad idea to let America lead it. The U.S. has a bad record (mixed at best) and a lot of reputational baggage. If the U.S. is involved, it should be in a support role. Truth be told, I think the U.S. would be happy to turn over security responsibilities to our friends in the Middle East and South Asia. But it doesn’t want to leave a power vacuum to be filled by bad actors.
