  1. It’s a problem, but I suspect it’s a problem with many airports around the world. LAX is the example I am familiar with. In fact, the way that I usually travel to L.A. is to fly to Tijuana International (TJX), use the Cross Border Express walkway from the airport to the U.S., and then use a shuttle from there either to the San Diego Amtrak station or directly to downtown L.A. From DTLA, I can take the metro to stations nearby various friends’ houses, sparing them the headache of picking me up from LAX or downtown. It takes longer, but it’s almost stress free. The stress levels getting into or out of LAX are more than I want to deal with. The Amtrak train from San Diego to L.A. is nice and relaxing, with an ocean view for much of the way. Another advantage of Tijuana’s Cross Border Express is that customs and immigration is much smoother.
