The geologists told them not to live on a cliff, but the homeowners thought it was a bluff.

A WHOLE PIECE OF BACON. What you want to give the dog a medal? The dog doesn’t give a rat’s ass about a medal. Give him a piece of delicious crunchy bacon, Eugene. And me too, if you’re going to be in the kitchen, cooking bacon.

They’re a take cover band.

That’s not expensive equipment. It looks like $200 worth of stuff from Home Depot.

I take it that Transport Canada is equivalent of the U.S.’s National Transportation Safety Board or the Federal Aviation Administration? There’s a lot of commenters who seem to think Mexico is a hellhole, and that the charter group is stuck in some sort of danger. The cartels are going to get them! The fact is, these idiots are going to be fine in whatever luxury accommodations, which they can well afford if they can afford to charter a jet. Or they can take individual initiative and buy tickets from a regular airline. They’re not actually stuck anywhere, unless they insist on only chartering jets as a group.

@begintothink These aren’t ordinary Canadians. They’re French-Canadians from Quebec. The stereotype doesn’t apply.

I don’t know whether he has had training or was acting in instinct. I don’t know whether he kept a cool head or was in full panic. But he did the exact right thing, closing with the gunman. This saved his life and the lives of others.

@jorgejiminez-rk1uu a bot doing bot stuff

And also, aviation regulations. One important rule of aviation is that passengers must obey the orders of the pilot-in-charge and his or her flight crew. In the U.S., this is under Federal Aviation Regulations (F.A.R.), but it holds true for any country according to their own regulations.

Twice to the head, twice to the body. The head shots can stun the arrestee, which helped them loosen the grip on the wheel. I’m not sure the reason for the body shots other than brute force compliance. None of his colleagues were punching the arrestee at that point, so maybe the blonde cop is the “designated hitter”, lol. It seemed a little extra, but the suspect was still struggling at that point. Whatever the case, it didn’t go past 4 (my count) or 6 (your count) blows. Nobody was murdered or severely injured during the arrest. If this is what it takes for cops not to kill suspects, I’m all for it. Mission accomplished.
5
They did it without major injury to anyone. I think blondie was a little too punchy, but he didn’t get carried away. Other than that, this was a textbook takedown of an uncooperative suspect resisting arrest. Everyone walked away, including the arrestee who walked over to the back seat of a police car.
5
@ColetteArteaga000 I can understand the two quick blows to the head to stun the suspect and get him to release the wheel. The two additional blows to the body once the suspect was on the ground. . . . . Eh, probably within guidelines, but seemed superfluous. Maybe it was necessary, but why not let one of your colleagues do it and not hog all the glory? Right? Is he the designated hitter or something?

It’s VERY difficult to pinpoint “lone wolf” actors that aren’t networking with likeminded people. It’s practically impossible without a lucky break (like the girlfriend who came forward a year ago).
5
He didn’t have a social media footprint. If the FBI is working off info on his home computer (including browser and search history), they have to assume that they’re seeing only what he wanted them to see. Imo, anyway. He seemed to practice a certain level of operational security that kept him under the radar, but he failed to compartmentalize. I’m specifically referring to his girlfriend telling police he was making bombs in 2019. That’s just bad opsec. Live and learn, I guess. Er, wait.
4
Do you blame Gascon for this, too? This guy will not be out on probation. You’re high on drugs.
4
You might be right. But range shooting is a helluva lot different than firing at a suspect in a moving car while maintaining awareness of bystanders (or other police) behind the target. Also, in general, police would rather bring in a live suspect. Less paperwork.
4
Suicide is illegal. Show us what a rebellious outlaw you are.
4
OK, bot. This isn’t the media’s fault. This the fault of political extremists going beyond any definition of peaceful.
3
Soaking wet.

You would draw on a guy putting a gun in your face while you’re in a confined space in an awkward position? I’m going to take a wild guess that you’ve never handled firearms outside of a video game. Here’s a hint: your green bar will drop rapidly if you try that maneuver in real life.
3
@skankhunt3624 Their dear leader suggested he could murder someone in broad daylight, in front of witnesses, and not be held accountable.
3
Textbook pit maneuver after a patient pursuit. Very orderly arrest—these sheriffs deputies have trained for this and it shows.
3
Did you know you can wear the same sweatpants four days in a row if you put them on backwards on day two, and turn them inside out on day three? Day four is inside out and backwards. You can tell the suspect was on his fourth day by the doo doo stains on his crotch.
3
@skankhunt3624 He’s bragging. . . about his breath.
3
He lives in Springfield, Ohio.

When one makes a dumb guess and one is wrong, they’re just dumb. When one makes a dumb guess that turns out right, they’re lucky but still dumb.
3
The report didn’t say, but he was apparently under surveillance prior to the carjacking according to the report. I suspect that the white pickup truck was stolen, but regular car theft or carjacking is unknown. I’m just guessing, though, but there was some reason he was being followed.

Monrovia is pretty down to earth if you’re satisfied with the bear necessities.
2
His wife corrected him.
2
The homeowners need to install security bears, uh, bars on the windows.
2
Sponges aside, there is also the thing called hard pan, a non absorbent layer in some areas.
2
Yes he is. And to quote a legal expert in another comment, “He won’t be released on bail because he’s a flight risk.”
2
@mikehunt3596 Enjoying your shiny new troll account, Khunt?
2
Do you read the suspect his rights before or after he signs the release?
2
They weren’t abandoned. They’re free to travel back to Canada by some other means.
2
Because people below might not want burning debris falling on them.
2
Every 12v tacticool accessory.
2
That’s like $25 in U.S. dollars, no?
2
Lol, no. No charter jet company operating in Cancun is willing to take the GROUP. Each one of them can book a flight on a regular commercial airline as individuals. If they insist on sticking together as a group, they can charter buses to the U.S. border, cross, and charter buses again to take them to Canada. I don’t know of any cruise lines that depart from Cancun and go all the way to Canada. Although, come to think of it . . . They could charter a ship.
2
What would you do if you were in the backseat when the driver decided to run? That would be so fucked up.
2
There’s been a merge between QAnon and the “wellness” movement, those practitioners of quack cures, anti-vaxxers, spiritual con artists, and their gullible victims. The antivaxxers in this protest were told by organizers to leave their MAGA hats and Trump flags at home.
2
@supernugget98 😂
2
YOU want to put his kids in danger, YOU can feed and clothe them, goddamit!
2
I think they were being background aware and trying to pick their shots. Normal procedure with a clear shot is to just unload on the suspect.
2
lol, no. I’m not sure who is worse, you or the people falsely claiming he will be released without bail.
2
@glencmac eh, the GOP congressional leadership wanted $0. The Dems barely managed to squeeze out $600 from McConnell. If Trump really wanted $2000 stimulus payments, he would have gotten out of bed and put a little pressure on the Senate Republicans over the past two months. The point is that the GOP wanted $0 stimulus payments. Multiple Republican senators are on record saying that any relief money at all would disincentivize Americans from working, like we are all lazy bums and there are millions of unfilled jobs. Direct payments were such an issue for Senate Republicans that when the “problem solvers” bipartisan group released their framework, they didn’t even bother with including stimulus payments. It’s a minor miracle that they arrived at the $600 compromise. And where was Trump? Hiding in bed, nursing his hurt feefees about losing the election, plotting to overturn it.

We thought they believed in capitalism and property rights, too. But they block, invade, and threaten businesses with mask policies, even when the businesses make accommodations to serve their supposed needs. It’s childish, infantile, and selfish, but taken to such an extreme level that it’s clinically insane. I’m a conservative. I don’t recognize the beliefs of these babies as being conservative in any real sense. It’s just a label to them, a team identity fronting for fascism.
2
What about the working class people in Cancun that they infected along the way? Yeah, that’s real class solidarity.
2
But he will enforce trespassing, so if you’re asked to leave and you refuse, you will be arrested.
2
@Itallnew LOL, Is the last chapter of The Art of the Deal about whining?
