Is there any indication that B, I, C, or S are actually ready to back China? I think each of those countries plus each of the expansion countries will pursue their own interests. That said, I think the developing economies can, will, and should push for reforms. This will lead to an easing of U.S./Western hegemony but not its fall.

@brianbbrianbrian You could also mention that land was promised to both Arab Palestinians and Jewish Palestinians alike for their help in defeating the Ottoman Empire. Unfortunately, the same land was promised to both groups. We could probably begin an academic debate over whether decolonization-done-badly is decolonization at all, or if we should call it a post-colonial shitshow. What I’ve discovered over the years is that EVERYTHING in the region is complicated and Byzantine, nothing is clear cut, and no side can claim moral or ethical purity. The more one tries to unravel the history in an objective way, the more one wants to bang their head against the wall. Nevertheless, we must still grapple with that history and the legacy of colonialism. We are adult men and women, not moral infants like those that storm military transports on the U.S. West Coast with false cries of genocide, or those that equate all Palestinians with Hamas and hope for an actual genocide.

A question just occurred to me. Actually two questions. Why didn’t the Neolithic age happen sooner? Did it not develop until there were population pressures on hunter-gatherer resources? It’s unlikely that we will ever answer these questions. I guess the first step to understanding would be investigating Mesolithic population densities and resource densities.
