  1. Ex-Republican here. Good on them. The GOP is not going to get well until enough Republic voters start turning out these extremists and grifters, even if that means holding your nose and voting for the democrat. It’s not enough (imho) to not vote, the GOP voter that wants a return to sanity needs to cast their vote against these vile candidates.

  2. Both of you make good points. Bottom line for me is that I’m not going to get too worked up over their sentencing being in September. Sure, it would be more satisfying for us if they were sentenced and incarcerated right away, but in the end, they’re going to get justice. Four months isn’t that big a deal. Maybe investigators are still working out a deal with these criminals for other prosecutions. Maybe they’re going to be cooperating witnesses. Also, there might be reasons for the delay that aren’t disclosed in this video. I’m trying to keep a cool neutral eye wrt to these various prosecutions winding up. I can see a “logical reason” for bringing zip ties and a taser that don’t involve planning to riot at the Capitol building. Perhaps they thought there was going to be counter demonstrations at the elipse and they expected a fight. That’s still pretty bad, but slightly less bad than planning on rioting at the Capitol. There’s a saying, “Justice delayed is Justice denied”. I get that. But life is full of delays, we don’t always get what we want when we want it. The good thing is that we are getting justice.

  4. A fair amount of defendants have claimed that they didn’t originally plan to go from the Elipse to the Capitol, but they expected skirmishes around Trump with counter protestors. This is still pretty bad, and it doesn’t excuse their guilt for participating in the attack on the Capitol.

  5. Poor impulse control. One can believe all sorts of crazy stuff but still have enough control of one’s impulses to keep one’s mouth shut. But it was poor impulse control that landed these people in court in the first place, so 🤷🏻‍♀️.
