  2. AMLO is playacting for a domestic audience, the Mexican left. It’s political kabuki. The interesting question (if you’re interested in Mexican politics) is why he has the need to do this? Is his power within his own party weakening as they look beyond his presidency?

  3. The lifeblood of criminal enterprises is money. Cut off the money and you destroy the ability to corrupt. Once you do that, law enforcement stands a chance of beating down the cartels. It just takes the political will to hold banks and banking executives accountable for money laundering.
