@JL-kf8mw She doesn’t want to be served mental illness because she already ate. She’s full. Why is that hard to understand? Now, if we can just convince her to take her medications.

The wording avoids “perpetuity”. That’s why there’s all the verbiage about the last legal heir of the current English monarch. Making a contract “in perpetuity” can sometimes be used to invalidate a contract, so they phrase it in a way that means “for a helluva long time”.

Maybe you haven’t heard of the new proposed legislation: “Don’t say gun.”

I’m pretty sure he will. He just wants to give Desantis an off-ramp before this winds up in court. I don’t think Desantis is smart enough to take the off-ramp. Iger wants to be seen as being forced to defend Disney.

Ron Duh is playing with himself.

It’s really hard to see how this could pass court muster. If the legislative branch or the governor can just nullify contracts with the stroke of a pen, that’s giving the government massive and unprecedented power. With regard to land usage, there are already eminent domain laws that the state can use. They don’t need to grab these new vast powers if they just want to repurpose undeveloped real estate. That’s a totally fake rationale. I think Disney IS ready to go to the mattresses, but Iger is smart to attempt (or at least make the appearance of making an attempt) to open a discussion with the governor.

@davidguelette7036 It might help him in the primary. He’s in crisis mode because this whole attack on Disney has been a failure so far. If he loses, he looks weak and ineffectual to the MAGA base. But if he wins, he looks like a tinpot dictator to normal voters.

What’s funny is that I’m behind Disney on this one. In general I’m hostile to the company’s abuse of the copyright system. I also know that they slow pay outside contractors and underpay their unskilled workers. There’s plenty to dislike about Disney. However, what Desantis is attempting to do is shockingly fascistic. He’s governing like he’s a dictator and betraying every conservative principle. I guess that’s par for the course for Today’s GOP.

Disney is grooming Desantis. 😉
