And he got one. Or do you not think the sniper officer was highly skilled in conflict resolution? It’s regrettable that the guy who got killed was not able to get whatever psychological or spiritual counseling he needed to get him through whatever crisis he was having, but it’s probably too late if he was shooting at police helicopters. Lastly, if he wanted someone to talk to, he would have barricaded himself inside his house.

@DoubleplusUngoodthinkful Any grand jury seeing this video would have reservations with indicting, but they have to consider all evidence—and we can only speculate about what that other evidence might have been. A lot of perilous situations can be resolved by bringing down the temperature and getting the belligerent person to cool down. The police sniper did just that, wouldn’t you say? Ambient temperature.

Longer than a minute, but it was admirable how the officer used his conflict resolution skills to bring the temperature down.

I’m curious as to why this was put to a grand jury, and not handled internally and/or a citizen review board. I get the need to investigate officer involved shootings, but a grand jury is a level up from an internal or external review. Still, there might be reasons to use a grand jury.
