The GOP “base” is apparently one man who very much wants to be President.

Your “math” makes no sense.

Wow, that’s 250,000 per day crossing the border. If the crisis is that bad, why does Congress refuse to act now that they out-negotiated Biden and the Dems? They squeezed them with aid to Ukraine, got a sweetheart deal, and now they’ll throw that away because Trump says so? Maybe the crisis isn’t that bad and your number is exaggerated. Maybe the GOP has gotten so comfortable with the border and immigration as a campaign issue that they cannot solve it without risking losing elections. What else are they going to campaign with? Culture war issues? It’s become clear that the House GOP doesn’t know how to govern (as the Dems have been saying). GOP congresspeople only know how to run for office.

That’s not what the bill says, and your ability to reason is cracked if that’s what you think. The 5000 number is the trigger for a shut down of the border. That’s 5000 people caught crossing or trying to cross illegally. There is also money to beef up enforcement, but it’s not clear how much and how it will be allocated (technology, equipment, more BP agents). Either you’re misinformed, unable to reason, or you’re intentionally spreading misinformation.

So what you’re saying is that before Trump corrected them, Republicans in the house and senate were secretly pro-open border.

@LloydBraun9000 The GOP Senators got everything they wanted. Some Democratic senators were pissed, but Biden said he’d sign it just to get aid to Ukraine. Eric Johnson knows he’s gotten a sweetheart deal. The catch is that Trump is displeased with it because he wants to preserve the issue for November. He doesn’t want Biden to get credit. If you don’t think that’s messed up and sign of how degraded GOP politicians have become, you might be part of the problem.
