@oscardelapena7376 It’s a very big business and like any business, it needs banking services. The weakest link that would devastate the cartels ability to operate would be to go after their enablers in the U.S. banking system. Currently we rely on banks to report suspicious transactions rather than to allow proactive investigations. There is no incentive for top management to clean house because they don’t face criminal penalties (and can always blame it on lower level managers when those managers get caught). Anyone serious about combatting the cartels knows that they can be suffocated by cutting off their money supply. Graham knows this, but he isn’t interested in solving problems. He’s interested in pandering to his base of know-nothings that love aggressive poses.

Surprised/Not surprised Graham is doing this sort of grandstanding. He’s not interested in governing. He’s not interesting in foreign relations. He’s only interested in pandering to his base. The backbone of the drug trade is the flow of money. It is U.S. banks that are the enablers of the flow of money. If Graham wanted to address the problem of the drug cartels, he would be advocating for more oversight of the banks and more muscular anti-laundering enforcement.

@Nano19916337262 No, Mexico hasn’t applied for membership in BRICS. That’s one of the stupider lies I’ve heard recently. BRICS itself is a joke. What has it accomplished? It’s “bank” has loaned a total of $15 billion. It can’t agree on a reserve currency nor can it create one, because none of the members can trust any of the others. BRICS as an organization is an impotent political symbol.
