The lend-lease legislation recently passed in the U.S. is intended to bridge any gaps in the future. The funny thing is that the aid packages that the U.S. Congress has been approving make lend-lease redundant for the time being, but if there is a dip in enthusiasm, lend-lease will take up the slack. But the fact of the matter is that there is no cheaper way to degrade Russia’s military than to send Ukraine the means to do it. Whether it takes a year for Ukraine to achieve peace or longer is up to Putin, really. So long as he’s willing to throw his forces into the Ukrainian meat grinder, the West is happy to oblige.

@ws8080 Putin has all sorts of doctors to shoot him full of whatever drugs allow him to cope. The possibility of nuclear war is still quite low. Anyway, how does a man who feels no shame or remorse feel humiliated? No, his type feels loss of power, but his type also clings to whatever power remains. If he triggers a nuclear war, he throws that power away. I think if he loses Crimea and Belarus, he might completely lose his mind, but at that point he will be quickly replaced.

They’ll get it right one of these days. Eventually they’ll put a general in charge that knows what he’s doing. And he will tell the last conscript remaining exactly what to do and then things will turn around for Russia.

Do not hope for quick victory over Russia, rather hope for certain and complete victory over Russia. It will take as long as it needs to take. I have faith that the Ukrainians will hold up. I do not have faith that Putin is a rational actor.
