I agree. Let’s be clear, he was pretty good at putting together engineering teams to create rocket ships and electric cars, but he’s not an engineering genius. I’m not sure whether to call him a “visionary”, because while he did see potential in certain fields of endeavor, he was far from the only one. Perhaps we can say he was a visionary investor, but like all investors, he’s got a mixed track record. It’s also important to note that he started with family money and that he has been lucky up to now. He’s a complicated figure. However, he’s also an asshat.
