  1. I mean, I could see just saying, “I’m in a hurry, can you give me a dozen donuts that you pick out for me?” The way he ordered was just weird. It was “political”, like he had plausible deniability if someone was unhappy with the donut choices. “Some of these, some of those, whatever makes sense”. Makes sense in terms of what? What is JD NANCE’s donut policy? But I wouldn’t combine any of it with the awkward small talk he engaged in. That was the weirdest of all. If JD MANCE showed up at my donut store (if I worked at a donut store), and he asked me “how long have you been working here” in that voice, I’d reply, “How long have you been a weirdo?”

  2. Look, JD MANCE isn’t a donut expert. He relies on advice from top experts, like the guy who had worked there for two years. “[Give me] whatever makes sense.” That’s how you delegate. Contrast this with Kamala Harris micromanaging everyone’s dessert choices. That young woman didn’t even want cake, but Nanny State Harris is going to force her to have it anyway. (And yes, I’m totally joking. Harris/Walz 2024!
