@Max You’re *finally*, at long last, admitting that Trump lost the election? I guess that’s progress.

@UATU. I got to give Pelosi some credit. She compromised several times. Mnuchin compromised. McConnell wouldn’t compromise, wouldn’t negotiate. While the House dropped their ask by about a billion, McConnell reduced his offer by 400 billion. These aren’t the acts of a tough negotiator. These are the acts of someone holding the American people hostage. In decades past, I think I’d have been suspicious of Pelosi just on principle. The last 4 years, hell, the last decade has gotten me to try and see it from their point of view. And the facts as I see them is that Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Mnuchin were negotiating in good faith when McConnell torpedoed their efforts, saying he wouldn’t even put it up for a vote. (Then he tried to pass his own skinny bill, *and couldn’t even get enough Republican votes*.)

I know what you meant, but I don’t think you meant to put it that way. I mean, what is the acceptable measure for enjoying hurting people?

@13bustah yeah, most people missed that because it didn’t happen outside of the fevered imaginations of a delusional few. The negotiations between Mnuchin and Pelosi were in good faith on both sides, and they were getting close to a deal before torpedoed by McConnell. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to a handful of recalcitrant senators, but then he sabotaged the bipartisan deal while it was in progress and getting close.

@Wisdomabovegold Stimulus checks didn’t go to illegal aliens. In fact, American citizens married to legal non-citizens didn’t get checks. Just STFU with your lies and attempts to gin up racist fears. And at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if 1% of the checks go to fraudsters and undeserving if 1) The stimulus saves American families from suffering and 2) (the most important part) the money is spent, thereby stimulating the economy. This is why they’re called STIMULUS checks, because ultimately the goal isn’t just to help families avoid starvation and eviction. The larger goal is to keep the economy on life support during a health crisis. Your wisdom is lacking. It doesn’t even rate above Fool’s Gold.
