  1. You know, even if it’s very close it sends a message. When Biden wins, the people of Texas can ask the DOJ (Federal) to investigate voter suppression in Texas. That should tie up the Texas GOP for a while.

  2. IF the GOP can rebuild itself into something its members could be proud of, it will take 8 or 10 or 20 years. I don’t think you realize how deeply rotten it is; the rot will not go willingly or easily. The first step is going to be the battle to get rid of not just the White Supremacists, but the white supremacist enablers. The ones that are OK with racism if it’s what the base wants. That’s the majority of the GOP leadership. The vast majority. It’s a battle worth having, though. These people need to be named and shamed. I hate to use this word, but they should be cancelled. That won’t happen without a fight between conservatives and the racist authoritarian right. In the end, it might be better for conservatives to form a new party, untainted by Trump flavored fascism. Or perhaps for a time we can form a right of center wing of the Democratic Party. (I know a lot of progressives and conservatives will call me crazy or worse for suggesting this, but it has a lot of things going for it.)
