  1. What everyone else already said . . . I do have an unlikely left field alternative though. What if the misspelling wasn’t break for brake, but was the omission of “–er”. It’s perfectly cromulent to say “pull the breaker” if one is trying to cut a circuit. It’s derived from (pre-breaker) pulling a fuse.
