  1. While you have a point, the amounts we are talking about are not commensurate. If we save a few billion by cutting foreign aid, that’s not going to pay for an additional $1400 in direct stimulus, which will cost an additional $200-300 billion or more. How much could be added to the direct payments if we cut the foreign aid pork? $10? $25? Look, if it’s all the same to you, I’d rather have $600 in my hand then $625 or $1200 or $2000 that never arrives.

  2. I got news for you: Congress will get paid no matter what. The foreign aid amounts to a few billion out of 900 billion, way less than 1%. Is that bad? Sure. But not bad enough to to torpedo the bill and start from scratch, imho. If all the pork in this bill was instead added to the stimulus payments, you’d see a $25 increase. I’d rather have the $600 now than $625 never (or $2000 or whatever).

  3. That would add $25 to your direct payment, at best. The pork in this bill is a few billion. Adding an additional $1400 is going to cost $200-300 billion or more to the price tag. Personally, I’d rather have $600 now than $2000 never. If Congress can’t amend the bill to include the extra $1400 TODAY, Trump should just sign the bill.
