It requires many businesses that are located in different countries. These are highly specialized companies that build one component of the lithography process, or they make the wafers or they make the machines that make the wafers. It’s one thing to say, “We will acquire or develop the capability or expertise to do x y or z”, but it’s another thing to pull it off.

Not to mention all the third order effects on the local economy that will provide more goods and services to the workers (and like you said, keeping them fed 😋 , but you probably weren’t thinking of that kind of feeding).

@alankwellsmsmba you can find some good deals on M2 Mac minis, but the price will drop further later this year as Apple introduces new silicon. You know how it works. I went from a 2014 Mac Mini to the M2 last year, and I’m very pleased.
