@scottshawn70 The most insidious aspect of YouTube moderation is the non-transparency. They refuse to provide explicit guidelines to creators with the explanation that explicit guidelines will allow people to “game the system”. Hidden rules that aren’t applied evenly is basically arbitrary in its total effect.

@lu544 I made a joke about video game violence, had my account frozen until I voluntarily deleted the joke (which was also hidden). To be honest it was only an OK joke, and deleting it wouldn’t have been a big deal. If they had just deleted it without requiring me to delete it, I would have grumbled and then forgotten about it. But the fact that they wanted me to delete it myself bugged me. I appealed and lost. I used that opportunity to “cure my Twitter addiction”. Best decision ever.

@kurt1391 It was and by all reports, it’s gotten even worse under Musk. Free exchange of ideas and open inquiry are great and all, but “flooding the zone” with bullshit is now acceptable to the new ownership. This happened under the old regime, too, but at least they tried to keep it under control.
