  1. I think your #2 and #3 go together, perhaps under the heading of “rule-of-law vs autocratic rule”. Autocratic rulers by their very nature don’t promote business friendly environments because business needs base level of predictability that you just don’t get with a dictator arbitrarily bending the rules to suit their contingencies or their ambitions. Before we start patting ourselves on the back, I’m seeing troubling symptoms of this is the U.S., where politicians in certain states formerly considered friendly to business are willing to arbitrarily exercise power to punish companies daring to oppose their social agenda. Specifically Florida: Desantis going after Disney. It doesn’t just hurt Disney, it hurts the business environment.

  2. I wonder what all the factors are that will determine where we are likely to see investment and expansion. What sort of manufacturing is going on in your city? How easily can the workforce expand? How educated is the workforce? How friendly is the state government to business? Is your city a desirable location for people looking to relocate for work?
