  1. It remains to be seen. I would caution against the oversimplified view that Mexico will become the industrial base of the U.S. What we have seen so far is more complicated. What has developed is an integrated cross border industrial base that has benefited all three NAFTA countries. I think the energy cap of which you speak might be a bargaining chip for the NAFTA III negotiations which will begin in a couple of years. Or it might be a concession given to domestic U.S. energy companies, to support prices. ¿Quien sabe? 🤷🏻‍♀️

  2. Also keep in mind that Peter tends to oversimplify. He works in broad strokes. Sometimes he leans towards exaggeration to make a point.

  3.  @zorkmid1083  I don’t think that is true. That was the fear when Lopez Obrador was elected and it didn’t come to pass. I don’t like MORENA, but it’s still much different than Chavismo.
