  1. You’re not understanding what the elements of supply and demand here. The demand wasn’t for living space. The demand was for places to invest your money. When you have more money (looking for investments) than places to invest this money, you get things like the Chinese real estate crisis or our various startup bubbles/crashes. (We’re not immune.) The main difference is that there were still relatively safe (low returning) investments here when the money began to flee the frothy startups. Apparently in the PRC, a huge amount of the economy was based on froth, because they’re less focused on value creation than on throughput/“social value”.
