  1. Lithium Ion Batteries are an important part of our current infrastructure and lifestyles. I am satisfied that we will be able to supply that strategic need with domestic resources. I am less inclined to think that we will find an eleventh hour wonder technology that will stave off climate change or that we can muster the unity and will to do anything about it. The climate is going to hell, and the repercussions will be grave.

  2. Maybe, maybe not. It sounds like you’re wish-casting. He never talks about his personal life. He either travels for business or for hiking and camping for recreation. He is bearish on staving off global warming (this video being an example of throwing a wet blanket on lithium optimism and electrification euphoria). I imagine that he spends as much time as possible in nature because he knows it’s not going to last. He wants to enjoy it while he can, before climate change alters the landscape of his Colorado mountains and his other favorite spots. Some people in these comments seem to think that Pete’s pessimism is due to his whoring himself out to the fossil fuel industry. This might be true, but given his other forecasting, I think he’s just pessimistic about our ability to reign in carbon emissions.

  3.  @Withnail1969 Aluminum dissipates heat more quickly and cools more rapidly. Copper holds heat longer than aluminum (which is why some prefer copper clad pans over aluminum ones). When was the last time you saw a copper heat sink?
