  1. My variable rate credit card is killing me, but I managed to pay down most of it before interest rates went up. “Killing me” is hyperbole, though. I will manage it with only some discomfort. Others are going to be much worse off. I think Peter has a good point. He might even be soft pedaling the non-severity of the downturn. (Crazy, I know!) But there is reason to hope that this downturn is setting the table for the next period of prosperity and economic growth.
