@kamadotanjiro3118 Good point, but it’s actually better than that because the manufacturing growth is not all on the Mexican side of the border. NAFTA and NAFTA II have promoted cross-border manufacturing where subcomponents are built on both sides of the border, and then assembled for domestic consumption and/or export where it makes most sense. But there’s a reason that Caterpillar and other companies have moved major operations to Mexico, and that has to do with skilled worker shortages. In Caterpillar’s example, it’s a shortage of welders in the U.S. There are two bottlenecks here: vocational training and an immigration policy that prevents skilled blue collar workers from working in the U.S. I sometimes think I’m the only conservative left that sees the benefits of NAFTA, a more liberal immigration policy, and some form of training subsidies.

Germany has its own natural gas or do you mean gasoline refineries? Because when Peter talks about German industry’s reliance on gas as a feedstock, he’s not talking about gasoline, nor is he even talking about natural gas being used to generate energy. German industry uses natural gas as a raw material in manufacturing. Cheap Russian gas enabled this. So what do you mean by gas plant?

Yes. Ideology gets us nowhere. Flexibility and an understanding of how systems function will move us forward.

What do you mean by “rationing food”? Has the EU introduced a ration system? Do you need ration coupons to buy food?

Why would he do that? What is he supposed to say about it? You’re asking him to comment on a subject outside his expertise. Why?

@ILikeFreedomYo He lives in a shack in the woods, as any Real American Patriot does. He weaves his own cloth from American cotton and wool and doesn’t use electronics. He drives a 1970s Ford powered by his own farts.
