Sure, they can keep importing pork from the U.S. to their markets in China . . . as long as trade relations are happy between the U.S. and China, China isn’t engaged in expansionist behavior and saber rattling, and China isn’t supporting Russia. We are happy to give China a good porking, in whichever way China prefers to receive it. It’s really a shame that China has such terrible leadership. It’s a shame for the U.S. when we have terrible leadership, too, but we get to change it every four years when it’s bad. Poor China just has to keep suffering.

Can someone translate that into a language adults can understand?

Someone should do this. Not that hard to pull a matte when he’s wearing a knit cap like today.

@JG-vh6oy Thank you.

That’s global thinking.

The answer to increasing Phosphorus and Nitrogen is more beer drinking. 😉

Presumably Americans would eat more plant based proteins if something interrupted the beef supply. Do you think there might be societal problems if that were to happen?

Piss. We just don’t have the infrastructure.

And that is well and good so long as relations between China and the U.S. remain friendly. If those relations become too strained, that U.S. pork might not make it to Chinese markets.

Your pork? As far as I know, the pork belongs to pig farmers, who then sell it to whomever they want. Are you a pig farmer? I suspect the only grasper of pork here is you.

It won’t.

When it actually happens it might be worth discussing, but it isn’t actually happening. But I’m not even sure it would be worth discussing then, either. BRICS isn’t really much of a thing, anyway. Their development bank has loaned out approximately 15 billion. They don’t trust the Chinese enough to make the yuan their reserve currency. It’s more of a club of those who have benefited from decades of “U.S. Hegemony”. There is actually no process to apply. And now that one member’s leader is unable to visit the next summit in South Africa, it’s looking more like BICS.

In that case, it would be wise for China not to upset major pork exporters.
1
I know what BRICS is, but what is BRICS PAC?

Pete doesn’t shy away from getting out of his lane, but why do you think Pete has anything interesting to add to that discussion?
1
It’s not.
