Gasoline prices didn’t return to pre-embargo levels, so we still complained about the high cost. Prices went up anytime OPEC cut production. We had the first war with Iraq over Kuwait, and many anti war protesters chanted “No blood for oil”. It’s very likely that he heard adults talking about these issues that were not really resolved.
