  2. A few of the frigates might have something like Phalanx, but patrol boats will have heavy MGs and a larger caliber weapon or two (and it’s the larger calibers that have the problems targeting low approaches close in). So, what the the equivalent to a 50 cal? Is it 12.7 mm?

  3. There might be other reasons for the increased range. There might be support vessels to provide refueling or recharging closer to the targets.
