  1. It’s a self-imposed economic collapse. The Kremlin could stop the bleeding immediately by withdrawing from Ukraine. The Kremlin is choosing economic instability and possible political instability. As far as “worse than Putin” goes, we already have that problem. The Putin of today is worse than the Putin of a dozen years ago. He’s worse than he was 4 years ago. He’s worse with every passing day. The bottom line is Russia’s economic stability is not as important as stopping their genocidal war in Ukraine. A stable Russia means nothing if they are destabilizing another country through war.
