  2. I don’t think Trump is a puppet so much as wind up toy. Putin wanted one specific thing from Donald, removal of the sanctions on various Russian Oligarchs, Putin’s backers. Trump has failed to deliver, and Putin is in hot water himself. But this is a side matter. Putin helped place Trump in power (as did others, so I don’t give the Russians sole credit) mainly to be a chaos agent. And boy-oh-boy, Donald has fulfilled this in spades.

  3.  @hjk3927  There’s also something called “vicarious liability”. It’s a legal term common in civil law that also has criminal applications—for example, when a person sends someone to intimidate another person, and that someone kills the other person. The instigating person is “vicariously liable” for criminal charges. This applies to the President and others who spoke at the rally, and possibly other “peaceful” riot participants.
