@brokenmanbrokenman5222 I think they have very little room for love when their hearts are so filled with hate. We (and they) say that they love trump, but really their sick adoration and blind devotion is very far from love.

If you mean someone you are or were close to, listen and ask questions that will lead you to common ground. If they start spouting the lies they apparently believe in, say, “Let’s get back to that later,” and focus on your commonalities. You’re trying to open their minds to alternative points of view, but you must get them to see that you can hold different views from theirs while not being their enemy. If it’s not someone you’re close with, forget it. You’ll never be able to open their minds if they don’t want their minds open. Go ahead and argue with them. It’s possible that you will plant a seed of truth in them or others, just not likely. Just don’t expect them to discuss anything intelligently or even in good faith.

@gazinta It’s not about the numbers of children. The problem is you’re not raising them right if they’re becoming fascists and white nationalists. The problem is you’ve failed to instill critical thinking if they mindlessly believe conspiracy theories.

@marvinguigar3623 But it’s not happening to everyone else. It’s happening to a guy that repeatedly violated Twitter’s terms of service but was given a free pass because he was President. We can debate whether or not Twitter should have taken action before this point, but the correctness of Twitter’s ban is not really in doubt among reasonable people. I find it funny that self proclaimed conservatives are shouting for MORE regulation of business. It’s funny that so-called conservatives have given up on the free market. Remember that? Conservative entrepreneurs are FREE to set up competing services. Some already have. We are not entitled to our conservative platforms on Twitter and the like, especially if we do not follow the terms of service.

@castielysia Thank you. We are Americans that love our country and love democracy. We’ve put country over party. Unsurprisingly, we are hounded out of the GOP as “RINOs” or worse, traitors. This has been going on for a while, before Trump, but it’s gotten much worse under his leadership. When you come down to it, both liberals and conservatives* love our Constitutional form of democracy, warts and all. Each side’s political principles rest on the foundation of democracy: equal treatment under the law and the vote. Conservatives have more in common with liberals than they do with the fascists, authoritarians, and white supremacists that have usurped the name “conservative”. In the end, we are friends and allies, and the false conservatives are the enemy, are the anti democracy fanatics that seek to destroy our country. We are out there, even if we are few. Some of us left the GOP a decade or more ago, when the trend towards authoritarianism was gaining unstoppable momentum, when we realized that the weed of racism wasn’t so easy to pull out, but had taken over the garden. *I define conservatives as people who hold conservative principles, and who do not sell those principles for temporary political power.

@standZ4 If racists think the military is a vehicle for affirmative action and not at heart a meritocracy, they have little experience or knowledge of the U.S. military. But you know how racists think. They believe the color of their skin is meritorious.
