Grudge or not, his office is incompetent. They mishandled evidence from the start, and the ongoing problems they had with delivering discovery to the defense was a big red flag. You can believe the worst if you want. I think incompetence and a lack of professionalism is the cause, rather than maliciousness. Even if they had an airtight case against Baldwin, Baldwin was going to get a successful outcome. If he wasn’t acquitted, he would win on appeal because of the Brady violations. I’ll say one thing more. I don’t think the source of the rounds was relevant to the case. But that is up to the defense to decide as they craft a legal strategy. It was the fact that the evidence was buried and not handed over, not the evidence itself, that got it dismissed. If the DA ran a tight ship and everyone on his staff and in the PD respected the rules of evidence and the rules of discovery, they might have won this case. They would have at least gotten a full trial out of it. In the immortal words of John Belushi, “But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

@FrithonaHrududu02127 This wasn’t overreach. It was prosecutorial incompetence. The suppressed evidence wasn’t going to hurt their case. I don’t think it was buried with intentional malice. It was buried because the DA and his office are sloppy wrt their procedural duties, procedures in place to insure fair trials. The office culture there is a cavalier disregard for the rights of defendants; it’s this disregard that leads to sloppiness. This is also disrespect for the public that relies on prosecutors to get it right, to put away bad guys with FAIR trials in which the defendants have been afforded every right to defend themselves. The public deserves a district attorney who pays attention to details so this doesn’t happen.
