@laurenjones9064 I’ve heard it said that Trump’s hardcore supporters love him because he gives them permission to be their worst selves. Everything I’ve seen, heard, or read supports this idea. A leader who lacks self-control releases them from the normal bounds of decency.

And people who have never examined their own attitudes or thoughts for racism, who get defensive if you even hint they might be racist, will not understand the racist nature of your exchange with that passenger. They’ve been breathing the air of white supremacy for so long that they almost always excuse it, minimize it, or invent a “reasonable” explanation.

This is where you’re wrong. It’s not a certainty even if it’s probable. White liberals might manifest racism differently in most cases, but they are not immune to it. Sometimes they slip up and say overtly racist things.

If those atrocities against blacks by white governments are too hard to understand, maybe Asian Americans can remember when the government imprisoned hundreds of thousands of Japanese Americans in concentration camps.

Yes. And this is why Asian Americans need to be in solidarity with Black Americans. This is a small taste of a pervasive white supremacy that many Asians haven’t seen because of their model minority status. It’s not just a few racists assholes walking around and being insulting, it’s the rest of white America that coddles the racists, that minimizes or justifies their racism.
