  1. There wasn’t an order to stand down. Instead, a few days before the attack, the Secretary of the Army ordered that any deployment of the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) had to be approved by him personally—and this is what led to the delay. Furthermore, he also ordered that those Guardsmen already deployed to assist Metro police couldn’t be redeployed from their assigned locations elsewhere in DC, without his personal authorization. (This hampering of the QRF is utterly bizarre and at odds with the detachment being able to react quickly.) Miller will have to answer for this apparent dereliction of duty, as well as answer other questions about the actions of his deputies.

  2. Yes, but it would be a good thing if investigators and prosecutors can establish a criminal conspiracy with proof beyond a reasonable doubt. It’s just as important, if not more important, to dismantle the cabal of conspirators that enabled Trump’s crimes.
