  6. Its very much a Soviet term. Lenin, Trotsky, and Stalin all used the phrase in their violent campaigns to repress and terrorize the populace. I don’t know to what degree Hitler used it. From what I recall, he referred to his biggest scapegoats as akin to rats and pestilence. I know that he used a phrase for the press that is the Nazi equivalent of fake news, the “lying press”. While it is chilling to hear this phrase used by an American President (which is why they use it), it reveals the weakness and fragility behind the Authoritarian mindset, the desperation to hide the nullity at their core and shield it from the light.

  9. I despise Trump Enablers, but I got a sense of how trapped this man feels, hemmed in by the delusional extremists of his party and the cynical grifters that manipulate them. A part of him knows he’s on the chopping block, that Trump will annihilate him for stepping out of line. But he cannot bring himself to fully renounce Trump because he clings to the delusional hope that he’ll escape Trump’s ire by some miracle. Dead man walking.

  12. I’ve kept a work journal. When I get home, I write down what happened, if anything. Good stuff and bad. It can help you maintain your sanity if you’re being gas lit. It’s useful for good things, too, if you have a decent employer. Like using it to remind yourself of accomplishments. Like before a 6-month review, you prepare and refresh your memory of specific contributions you’ve made, successes you’ve had.
