  1. This effectively prevents Russia from trying an amphibious assault against Ukraine. If they keep losing ships, they won’t have anything to evacuate cut off troops west of Crimea. They might even have trouble providing naval support along the Sea of Azov coast. Russia has lost its original purpose for the war. A land grab is a pipe dream—they won’t be able to hold any territory they conquer. I think the only reason they keep at it is that Putin faces domestic troubles if he admits defeat. I have my doubts he will be able to cling to power when this war is over.
