  1. The diplomatic solution could be initiated by an immediate cessation of hostilities by Russian forces, and their hasty exit from Ukraine. Until those conditions are met, what is there to discuss? Putin won’t get better terms—the longer this goes on, the worse is his bargaining position. Sooner or later, there will be a cessation of hostilities, either Russia voluntarily laying down arms or Ukraine forcing Russia to do it. The question of when this happens is something that the Russian people must negotiate with their fuhrer Vladimir Putin.
