  2. You must be missing the point—the woman was discussing what led to her change in thinking. Some of her so-called friends were discouraging her from getting surgery because of their weird beliefs. The silver is a reference to coloidal silver—which is an effective anti-bacterial (it’s a very common method of disinfecting water), but has no efficacy against viruses. (You see a similar thought process behind the ivermectin craze, which is effective in both animals and humans as an anti-parasitical medication, but has scant evidence that it has any antiviral properties. But I digress.)
